The Nonlinear Ache: When Grief Makes Time Bend
Have you ever experienced this? Someone you love dearly dies, and suddenly, time loses its linear rhythm. One moment, the memory of their laughter feels like yesterday, a vivid echo in your mind.
Trauma is Trauma
I saw Kevin Smith’s video about his mental health journey, including a stay at a treatment center. He speaks from the heart about what he has learned through this process. It has many gems.
What we tell ourselves
There is a voice in our heads that talks to us constantly. It’s our program running in the background of our lives. It helps us make decisions, encourages us, protects us - it is the chatter that is constantly going. Even though that voice can seem like an incessant hum, it is at the forefront of guiding our lives, especially what we think of ourselves.
Do Things Poorly: Perfect?
I often think about starting something new. I have a goal, but I need to learn or do new things to achieve that goal. The same fears initially come up just like everyone else - “What if I am not good at this? What if I can’t do what I need to do to get to the end goal?” The perfectionist in me hesitates to start because, well, what if it’s just wrong? “FAILURE,” I think to myself.
That Pesky Number
I read an article recently explaining how some experts explained what “middle age” actually is. The age? 35. Well, I’ve sped right by that. Now, what do I do? What do I do with whatever time I have left? I went down the rabbit hole for a while of “whoa, time is flying, and I DON’T HAVE MUCH TIME LEFT!” I was a bit of a mind-blower, I won’t lie.
Where oh where has my creativity gone?
I have had moments where I sit down to write a blog and my brain says “I’ve got nothin’.” The muses had gone on vacation and I couldn’t access my inspiration. It was frustrating.
11 Benefits of Optimism
It’s been challenging to stay optimistic with all that is happening in the world. Everyone falls somewhere on the sliding scale between pessimism and optimism, depending on the situation. What if we went up the scale towards optimism? There are advantages to each, but on the average, what if getting as close to optimism as we can is a far better option? Optimism has so many benefits and can enhance your life in numerous ways.
9 Advantages of Assertiveness
9 benefits of becoming more assertive - leave the passive aggressive behind.
An Attitude of Gratitude
“You’ve got to have an attitude of gratitude” they say.
And when I’m having an especially bad day, I wonder what is the purpose of being grateful? I’m angry or grumpy or I’m feeling all the feels. WHY WON’T THEY LET ME FEEL ALL THE FEELS? (Okay, no one is stopping me but I am just feeling dramatic at that moment.)
Say This Not That - Affirmations
I was on Zoom with a friend of mine and I was talking about my October schedule. For Psychic Mediums, this can be a busy time.
I said to her “I’ll run myself ragged for October…” then I paused. October hasn’t even happened yet and I’m already projecting it’s going to wear me out. Then I said, “Wait, no, I’ll have a full schedule I’ll handle beautifully in October…” and she smiled.
Always Do Your Best: The Fourth of The Four Agreements
Always do your best is the agreement that everybody can do. Your best is, in fact, the only thing you can do. And the best you can do doesn’t mean that sometimes you give 80 percent and other times you just give 20 percent.
Should you be taming your inner lion?
July 27th - August 11th, 2021
Mercury, the planet of communications, facts, commerce and travel, moves into the sign of Leo on July 27th. Leo, the sign of self-confidence, creativity and being passionate. In other words, being the star of the show and gaining attention for talents and skills. What happens when you put them together?
Don’t Make Assumptions: The Third of The Four Agreements
One of the quotes I’ve seen floating around is expectations leads to disappointment and making assumptions can lead to similar feelings. When we fill in the blanks, we sometimes fill them in with cement, which creates the barriers we are trying so hard to avoid.
Don't Take Anything Personally: The Second of The Four Agreements
“Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.”
Healing. Chiron Retrograde Aries - July 15th - Dec 19th, 2021
Healing. We talk a lot about it and work on it through all different methods. And, of course in Astrology, there are planets and asteroids (minor planets) that work on supporting that healing. One of those Minor Planets is Chiron.
Be Impeccable With Your Word: The First of The Four Agreements
“Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.”
End your suffering: Are You Familiar with The Four Agreements?
In my travels, there are books I’ve pulled a lot of nuggets from but a few have stayed with me through the years after I’ve put it down. “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz. Living life through the Four Agreements outlined in the book can reduce suffering and change how we interact with people, hence opening our lives to more love and happiness.
Project Mary 2.0
A Digital Vision Board can help you visualize and structure a plan for your goals. I had done a bunch of research on how to do a Digital Vision Board on Pinterest and I am inspired.
Feeling Stuck
Lately, I’ve felt stuck. I hate admitting that but I realize that, like when I was a child, spinning in circles would keep me in the same place, make me dizzy and cause me to land on my ass. Sure, I thought I was moving but I was just wearing out the rug.
